i used to go there with my grandparents when i was a kid...loved the fountains...but i think they took them out. *sigh*
they're the ones pictured/described in that wonderful book: "the mixed up files of mrs. basil e. frankweiler". it's a story about two kids who hide out at the met when they run away from home. delightful kids book that i grew up with. :)
i was at stonehenge in 1970, also amazed at the names. it's like an archetypal reflex....see big monument....carve/write name. meep.
