I can certainly understand that. That's one of the things that may separate fanfic writers from professional writers (and I use the latter strictly in the sense of somebody being paid for their work) -- the former write for themselves and their audience, while the latter often also have, in the back of their minds, "What can I sell?"
All that being said, I think you could probably do a wonderful job on a full-fledged tie-in novel. Maybe next time there's an open call, you might want to give it a shot...
